Why the cut??...to donate to The Little Princess Trust who have
wigs made for children who lose their hair through chemo or due to other
medical conditions. Also I decided to raise money for The
Alzheimer's Society in memory of my husband's mother, my friend Julia
Boswell from Aylsham and my father who all died with Alzheimer's.
I also have a sister-in-law who lives with Alzheimer's (diagnosed at 49). When you watch someone you love deteriorate so rapidly to
someone who no longer recognises you and whose personality completely
changes, it is heart-breaking and painful. It made me realise that
no-one whatever their age, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, how healthy or
intelligent they are is immune from this illness.
Please donate to The
Alzheimer's Society at www.justgiving.com/BeevanderDoes

One Billion Rising
We are going to strike, dance and rise with a billion women and those who
love them around the world to demand an end to violence against women.
Why one billion? Because the UN estimates that one in three women on earth
(one billion women) will be raped or sexually assaulted in her lifetime.
In Norwich, we're aiming to inspire 20,000 women and girls (approximately one in three women who live in the city) and men and boys and transgendered to dance on 14 February.
The pressure is on but we are getting people on board every day and we're marketing this virally through social media and word-of-mouth e.g. women are going to their dance tutors and spreading the word through their dance classes.
The Chief Fire Officer emailed his staff to ask them to dance with him which was pretty cool. We are in touch with women dancing all over the world via Twitter and Facebook which is really exciting.
There is a campaign dance that people are learning across the globe. You can watch it here: www.norwichrising.wordpress.com/dance.
We're going to have a mass dance outside the Forum in Norwich at 1pm on 14 February and we are encouraging people to dance with us there or wherever they are and in whatever way they can.

Genocide?
While
magazines and TV chains report about the lives and love affairs of
movie actors and actresses, football players and other celebrities, the
Chief of the Kayapo tribe heard the worst news of his entire life:
Mrs Dilma, the President of Brazil, has given her approval for the construction of an enormous hydroelectric central (the world's third largest one).
This means the death sentence for ALL the tribes living at the shores of the river because the barrage will flood more or less 400 000 hectares of the forest.
More than 40 000 indigenous peoples will have to find other surroundings where they will be able to survive. The destruction of the natural habitat, the deforestation and the disappearance of several species of plants and animals will be a fait accompli.
We know that a simple image is the equivalent of a thousand words, it shows the price to be paid for the 'quality of life' of our so-called 'modern comforts'. There is no space in the world anymore for those who live differently. Everything has to be smoothed away, that everyone, in the name of globalization must lose his and her identity and way of living.
If this touches you, I urge and implore you to forward this message to all your friends, relatives and acquaintances. Thank you in the name of life, nature and biodiversity.

FutureRadio
As time moves a little too quickly toward my imminent appearance on FutureRadio tonight, my stomach is doing front and back flips. Luckily I will have Vince with me.
We are promoting Out Write - well Vince will be....I will have a sick bag over my head - thank goddess it's the radio and not TV.
However....talking of TV...I don't know what possessed me but I applied for Come Dine With Me as they want people in my area. I had the shock of my life when the producer's assistant 'phoned me to say I had gotten through the first two stages.
Arrrrrrrrgh!

OUT WRITE.....new poetry book
OUT WRITE poetry anthology
Reviews: Sam Collins “Intense, shocking poetry”
Steve Smith: “It was one of those peek inside someone else's mind days. Thinking if they can get through it—so can I”
Dugald Ferguson: The ones that speak most strongly to me are the first short poem, ‘Solstice Thom’ by JoJo Foster, which conjures rich winter images and the visceral ‘One of those days' by Tabitha van der Does’
The Norwich Pride writing group present a new anthology edited by local UNESCO City of Literature Pride Poet Laureate, Vince Laws. OUT WRITE has been designed by Alexandra Blythe, with contributions from over a dozen new and experienced voices, featuring visual poetry, collage poetry, painted text and carefully considered text on the page.
Below is a small selection of extracts of poems from the anthology, which use wit and wisdom to express reflections on a diverse range of human experience. The dazzlingly colourful OUT WRITE poetry anthology is now available. The book features 32 pages of poetry, prose and images from the Norwich Pride writing group, eight pages in full colour, and a full colour A5 cover - all for £5 and £1 P+P!
Order copies direct from Vince Laws at vincelaws@gmail.com
(These are extracts only—for the full poem please buy the book)
Solstice Thorn
This one rose I hold.
Blood falls onto the snow
and your petals spill…………….
JoJo Foster

MOTHER Some days
TRANS I like labels.
TEACHER They define…………….
Mark R.H.
One of those days
It was one of those walk into the sea and drown days
Your hair floating in the seaweed
Lungs filling until exploding
Tabitha van der Does
I am vitality
Rejoicer in life - its essence.
Spring’s elixir rises, celebrating positivity.
Platonically flawed like Athenian cracies.

The reality of Ehlers Danlos Syndome
Please
say a prayer/spare a thought/take a moment of your time to be quiet and
still for my sweet friend Kelly Wehling Hardie and her family. Kelly died on Saturday, she was
29 years old....that's no age at all is it? So please, whether we talk
on a regular basis or not, whether you have EDS or not.... just say a
prayer or take a minute of your day to spare a thought for everyone with EDS....I know I live with it every day.
She was born 27 February 1983 in Maryville, Ill.. She treasured working with her dad in the crop insurance
business, loved her pets, and antiquing. She was an accomplished
swimmer, golfer, college and businesswoman. .
Kelly died Saturday 5 January at
Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis due to complications resulting from
Vascular EDS. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a half-brother and a half-sister as well as numerous aunt, uncles and
cousins.Kelly's family requests memorials to
charity of donor's choice or Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Network Cares
Research Fund at www.ehlersdanlosnetwork.org.
