World-renowned graffiti artist Banksy has returned to his hometown of Bristol to hold an official exhibition of his work, titled Banksy vs Bristol Museum. Held in Bristol's City Museum and Art Gallery, this exclusive show features his famous stencil street art along with installations, animatronics, sculptures and an impressive sensory display. The exhibition was planned in secret, with only a handful of museum staff and event organisers kept in the loop, and will feature over 70 pieces of new and previously unseen art.
This is the first large-scale exhibition of Banksy's work since his display of famous pieces at a Los Angeles warehouse in 2006. That event attracted followers from across the globe, including A-list Hollywood celebrities.
The exhibition will run throughout the summer until 31 August 2009 and entry is free to the public.
