Food glorious food

Here are all four of us together eating. Twizzle has to be shown to her bowl because she is blind, Muddle eats like a real gentleman and Douis likes her head in the kitchen and her bottom in the dining room. I will eat anywhere and anything and if anyone is not quick enough I will eat there food too! There are some foods you should not give to a cat and here they are:
Tuna Fish

Tuna Fish is a favorite among many cats but lacks the vitamins and nutrients to keep your cat healthy diet. Tuna meant for human consumption lacks Vitamin E making this an unhealthy and sometimes dangerous food choice. Vitamin E deficiency can cause serious health conditions such as Yellow Fat Disease. Even if dietary supplements are given to counteract the negative nutritional value, tuna is still a poor choice because of the mercury that it contains. Tuna is also believed to cause allergic conditions and reactions in cats. If your cat is a Tuna lover it is best to buy fortified canned cat food in tuna flavor to make sure they are meeting their vitamin and mineral requirements.
Cows milk and dairy products:
No, no, no, no, NO! Many cats are lactose intolerant because they lack the enzyme lactase. Without this enzyme, their bodies have a difficult time breaking down and digesting milk and dairy food products. This upset to the system can cause diarrhea and skin irritation. If your cat loves milk do not despair, there are several companies which sell lactose free milk products that are designed with a cat's digestive system in mind. Goat's milk is okay - but in small quantities (not daily - just as a little treat).

Dog food: nutritionally undervalued for cat’s requirements, as it does not contain enough protein or taurine to meet the cat’s nutritional needs. If the cat eats dog food on a regular basis it will become unwell.

Scraps:

Many people will also feed their cat the scraps from their own dinner and once again the food that we eat is not of the correct nutritional balance that is sufficient to ensure that the cat has optimal health. Scraps can contain various things such as onions which are toxic to cats.

Chocolate: You should ensure that you never, ever, never give your cat chocolate to eat otherwise it could become very ill and even die.

Bones: These can splinter and get caught in their throat and intestinal track. This can cause a lot of damage or serious injury or death.

Onions, garlic, & related root vegetables: Onions contain a substance (N-propyl disulphide) which destroys red blood cells in the cat, causing a form of anemia called Heinz body anemia. Garlic contains a similar substance in a lesser amount. So if you give your cat gravy, for instance, this could contain a small amount of onion or garlic and cause problems even death for your cat.

Tomatoes, raw potatoes, aubergines, These foods are members of the Solanaceae family of plants, which includes the Deadly Nightshade, and contain a bitter, poisonous alkaloid called Glycoalkaloid Solanine, which can cause violent lower gastrointestinal symptoms

House Plants:

Amaryllis: Amaryllis is a popular houseplant and is usually purchased as a bulb. This house plant is very poisonous to cats.

Asparagus Ferns: This house plant that is poisonous to cats is popular in hanging baskets or large pots on shelves. The lacy green fern fronds hang down as they grow, enticing cats to play with and sample them.

Caladium: Caladium is a large leaved house plant. This house plant is poisonous to cats.

Crotons: There are multiple varieties of crotons that are grown in the home. Unfortunately, it is a house plant that is poisonous to cats.

Dieffenbachia: Dieffenbachia is a tall house plant with large green and white leaves. It is poisonous to cats.

Peace Lilies: Peace lilies are large plants with glossy green leaves and tropical looking flowers on thin stalks. Unfortunately, every part of this house plant is poisonous to cats.

Philodendron: One of the most widely grown house plants in the world, philodendron is a large jungle vine with attractive leaves. Thishouse plant is poisonous to cats.

Rubber Plant: The rubber plant is part of the ficus family. The rubber plant, and other varieties of ficus house plants, are poisonous to cats.

What did Treacle find behind the sofa!

Oops I did it again! Treacle went sniffing around and found three nice little piles of my poop. Ta said she could smell something but couldn't find it. I don't know why I do it there - I know I shouldn't but I do it anyway - it is nice and private place but Ta and Co don't like it. But I have heard that I am going to get my own special pink cat box with a hood so I can go and poop in private. In the last photo Treacle is doing some yoga - the dog position - he does it quite a lot as he is quite old and it stretches him out a bit. Co is going to the pet shop to get my new poop box. My voice has changed t - it is much higher and I have learned some more words.

The Magic Paw strikes again!

Now Pawl McKenna and that snake in Jungle Book have nothing on me. I can hypnotise Treacle the dog with one gaze from my hypnotic eyes and a wave of the Magic Paw. I get my power from the Great Mouse Totem.

I am Siamese not Thaiamese

Hello Michelle. Sorry to hear about your kitty and I am glad you liked the poem.

Here I am with my bestest friend Douis just about ready to perform a scene from The King and I. Ta's hersis Je is a very good dancer especially the Salsa. Ta has 3 hersis and 1 herbro. There is Je, Ka, Ja and Co. They have children called Mo, Jo, Da, Li and Ja and they live in America, Thailand, and England.
Thailand used to be called Siam (สยาม) until 1939 when it was changed to Thailand; it was renamed Siam between 1945 and 1949, after which the name Thailand was once again adopted. Very confusing for us Siamese.
So how did we Siamese get into the UK?

In 1884 Owen Gould the British Consul-General, was given a pair of Siamese cats as a parting gift by the King of Siam - King Chulalongkorn, the son of the king featured in the musical The King and I. Naturally we raised considerable interest. So much interest that Owen Gould was granted permission to exhibit my ancestors at The Great Exhibition held at the Crystal Palace in Hyde Park, London England.

This exhibition was attended by heads of state and dignitaries from around the globe, thus spreading the news of the new oriental breed far and wide and Siamese kitties soon became very much in vogue.

Wimblenod

I thought that I would be able to watch MTV all day now Dutchland are out of the EuroCup but, no, now it's tennis. I will be very happy when June is over. Where did that ball go?

A little bit older and a little bit wiser

Us Siamese are uncomplicated cats. We sleep, we wash, we eat, we poop, we play and we sleep again. Humans are so complicated - they get themselves into such a mess. Why don't they learn from us? When we don't like another cat we tell them straightaway - we puff up our fur, hiss and growl and it usually ends there and each keeps their distance until they know each other better. Sometimes it does end in a fight but we don't do the things that humans do - we don't use emotional blackmail, we don't get aggrieved over silly things, we don't manipulate (as you can see the word even starts with (hu)man - if it started with cat then it would mean a good thing, and we love unconditionally. Go find a sunny spot to relax in, go have a bath, have something delicious to eat and stop hurting each other, fighting with each other ... because ultimately your hatred, envy, greed, anger will only destroy you and also you are adding to all the bad things in the world like war and famine. Learn from the great philosophers like Gandhi, Buddha, Jesus, Mohammed, Plato, Aristotle, St Paul, St Augustine, St Thomas Aquinas, Michel Montaigne, David Hume, Immanuel Kant, G W F Hegel, Soren Kierkegaard, Bertrand Russell, Simone de Beauvoir, Anders Nygren, Gene Outka, Robert Solomon, Harry Frankfurt . So chill out humans.

Now that I am older I am not going to use mymum or mydad anymore. They are going to be called Ta and Co.

Bonjour Ka-ka! Beau pour être avec tu. Vois-tu bientôt. Gardez la foi et la combustion de lumières. Ti-Ti, Ta-ta & Co-Co

Mike, Max & Mark

Mike, Maxine and Mark came round. Mike (photo 3) is Spanish and waves his arms around a lot which is a bit confusing for me because I think he wants to play, Maxine is Mike's girlfriend (photo 1) and she had 13 horses (I am not quite sure what a horse is but I know they eat them in Frenchland). She is very strong. Mark (photo 2) is Maxine's brother and he has hurt his back so much he cannot sit down. Mike bought mymum's car and now she has to walk everywhere which is good because she's a bit round (I think she sometimes gets a taxi). Some humans are funny, they think that mymum writes this blog but we Siamese do lots of things you humans know nothing about. Cheeky the Hamster died yesterday - she was very old for a hamster - 2.5 years - I had nothing to do with it. Mymum's herdad has just come back from being in Grease - at 86 I thought he was a bit old for all that dancing. And some lovely news that mymum is going to be an aunt and a great-aunt again - one in July and one in November. The Dutchland family are very big - mydad has six brothers and sisters and they have 24 children who are now are now making more children - we are all going to Dutchland for mymum's birthday - if I have my passport ready I am going too. My ears are much better - I am allergic to Frontline because the gorgeous vet put a little tiny bit on my ear and it swelled up. There are alternatives which are called Stronghold and Advantage which contain different ingredients but do the same job (from Welshmymum). Got to mew-bay now and mymum is opening a shop soon.
Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth. Buddha
And this following bit is for all humans who are thinking of purchasing an MGF: We are having fun with the little car (the Rover), it really is a lovely little car, we took it to ATS to see what the exhaust rattling was and he has now fixed it, it was only a manifold rattling which he took off, he was a very knowledgable man who then got onto talking about MGFs. He states that you must only go for the 1600 engine and not the 1800 engine as the 1800 is a bored out 1600 and they
therefore have many problems with them as the cooling system was only designed
to cope with the 1600 engine and is not capable of cooling an 1800 properly and
therefore many 1800 suffer with head gasket problems which burn the top part of
the engine out and costs a fortune, so keep with a 1600 only, also the MGF was built to run on only CONTINENTAL tyres, anything else will make the car not handle as it should as it was designed for the continental tyres.

Mymum

Mymum is the bestest in the world. She does everything for me - plays with me, feeds me, cuddles me, takes me to the vet, puts cream on my sore ear, never shouts at me, listens to me, protects me, brushes me, gives me treats and lets me sleep wherever I feel comfortable. When she was a kitten she didn't have this from hermum so I think that's why she loves giving it. Sometimes I know she thinks about her cats who have gone to The Great Cat in the Sky and I give her extra attention then. Mymum loves all animals but I know she loves me the most.

Monday 23 June 2008

It's oh so quiet

Twizzle and I are giving mydad extra cuddles because Dutchland did not get through the EuroCup and he is very sad. He is now hopes that the tennis player Robin 'Schlobber' Haase beats Hewitt. Mymum is also sad and has gone on vacation.

Crab crab fabulous crab

Yummy scrummy crab in my tummy and then a few hours later out my bummy.

Relax

Whenever life's concerns get you down, just take the time to relax. First have a lovely soothing wash and then stretch. By the way it was mydad's birthday yesterday ... he was 47 ... even older than Twizzle ... no wonder he has no fur on his head.
PS I bet Victoria Beckham is soooo jealous of my waistline

Whatever it is, I didn't do it...who do you think did it?

Something happened. There was a crash and then silence. Who did it? Not me. It was probably one of the other household furry things. Who looks the most innocent? Me.

Is it something I said?

I was very happy to see last night that Ruud van Nistelrooy did not play for Dutchland last night. Thatman (mymum says I am not to call him that anymore so I now call him mydad - he changes mypoo box). Mydad said it was because the Dutchland manager Marco van Basten put in the Bee Team because Romania are not very good.
Here I am with Douis and Black Blob Muddle telling them all about football - and in the middle of telling them the offside rule they went and did something else - just like mymum does when mydad goes on about offside rules, corners, penalties.

Tuesday 17 June 2008

The vet!

Pass me the paper please. I just love Private Eye and think Ian Hiss-Slop is fab even though he has no fur on his head.
Now here is a picture of my gorgeous vet. He is not trying to strangle me - I had just given him one of my special finger chews and as you can see from the smile on his face this made him very happy. He has a lovely accent and is from South Africa and has some sheep there. He said the spot in my ear could be caused by my ears folding over when I sleep or I am going through Pew-Bertie and that my hormoans are doing strange things. I let him put some cream on my ears but only under the condition I could chew another of his fingers. I now weigh 1.85 kilos - still a little less than Victoria Beckham (her husband plays football but couldn't do it this year because they couldn't find enough English players for the team because Wane Rooney is getting married, David Owen is too tired, and Gazza is not very well (I hope he gets better soon because I think he is very compassionate man) and David Beckham is too old and lives in America and has to make sure his wife has lots of jewellery and dresses because she can't sing very well. I have heard that Dutchland are playing football again tonight so thatman will be jumping up and down again. I hope van Nistelrooy plays properly this time and that the ref is not asleep. I still think rugbee is better than football.

Douis is back!

My lovely friend Douis is back and now I am teaching her some magic tricks. This first one is how to make a hamster disappear. Then I wanted to make Douis disappear again but she won't get in the magic box. Hmmmm.

Sunday 15 June 2008

What happened?

Hmmmm...I seem to have forgotten the other part of the magic trick so I wonder where Douis is. Oh well I am so exhausted from mew-baying the other day - it was 5p listing day - will have a nice sleep and then get Douis back. Now how did it go ... mew presto ... magic paw .... cattacadabracat .... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Saturday 14 June 2008

Magic trick

Laydees and gentlemen I present the incredible disappearing cat trick. First you see her, then I wave my Magic Paw (TM) and mew presto she has vanished!

Friday 13 June 2008

Everybody dance now!

I heard that my friends Julia and Andy are going Salsa dancing so Douis and I have decided to show them a few moves.
1. First you choose a partner
2. They show you a couple of moves because they think you are a complete novice
3. Then you amaze them

Did you know if you double click on the photos they will supersize - give it a try.

Does my bum look big in this?

I have now made good friends with Douis. She is a funny cat. She is only two years and has already been in three homes. Some people don't understand us felines at all. She is very quiet until I tell her it is time to eat and then we start a chorus. I haven't quite got to grips with Black Blob Muddle but he will succumb to my Siamese charms soon. After all peace is much better than war. Playing is much better than fighting.
HH the Dalai Lama: When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace.
