Eat, drink and be careful!

Tips for eating, drinking and staying healthy in Tunisia:

Take with you: rehydration kit, Imodium, laxatives, clean needles (just in case you need injection), water disinfection tablets (just in case stuck in middle of nowhere and you have no bottled water), anti-bacterial wipes, spray and gel, dried fruit and some of your fav yummies

Do not eat: shellfish, chicken, eggs, rice, salad, fresh fruit. If you want to eat fresh fruit or veg wash them in disinfected bottled water

Eat: pasta, couscous, anything you have seen cooked in front of you

Do not drink: tap water or anything with ice in

If eating in markets watch them cook food and do not accept anything other than what you have seen cooking.

Toilets range from swanky Japanese-type hi-tech to two footprints either side of a hole with a bottle of water to wash your bits - usually in these toilets nowhere to wash your hands.

If you start to get the trots, take Imodium as instructed, rehydrate with rehydration kit, rest and drink plenty of bottled or boiled water.

Even doing all this I still managed to get the trots and lost 4lbs in one day!
