Avignon

Arriving at the Hotel. Guess who owns
the pink suitcase!

With its bridge, the Palace of the Popes, testimony to its past as the capital of Roman Catholicism in the Middle Ages, Avignon offers beautiful architecture, shaded boulevards and culture.

Avignon is also the ideal base for exploring Provence - the Luberon, Camargue and all the beauty of Provence.

Avignon also means Provencal cuisine (expensive!) and Côtes du Rhône wines (cheaper to buy in the UK) , discovery and lifestyle (chic boutiques, cafes, museums, markets).

rue Jean Jaures where our hotel was based. A beautiful boulevard lined with the typical plane trees.
